Patient Transport during COVID 19

COVID 19 is a highly contagious virus. It is critical that before and after every transfer that the ambulance be decontaminated, to prevent the transmission of the virus.

Patients and attendants during transport must be wearing masks and if required a face shield or goggles and a gown.

After the transfer, the attendants are required to perform a complete wipe down of all surfaces that may be touched inside the ambulance with a hospital grade disinfectant virus killer solution. Removal of all linens, airway lines and disposal of any PPEs that were used by both medical attendant and patient .

The ambulance doors should be left open for 5 minutes to air out any possible airborne droplets.

All garbage must be tied and disposed immediately.
